Sultan Abdirizaq Sultan Abdillahi Arrives In Somaliland

Hargeysa, Somaliland, October 24, 2009 (SL Times) – Sultan Abdirizaq Sultan Abdillahi arrived in Somaliland to take over the position of overall Sultan of the Subeer Awal sub-clan, vacated by his grandfather Sultan Muhammad Sultan Diriye who passed away this week in Hargeysa.
Sultan Abdirizaq Sultan Abdillahi flew to Berbera airport from the United Arab Emirates where he lived for a number of years. He was greeted at the airport by government officials, sultans, city officials, prominent members of the opposition parties as well as many ordinary citizens.
After a brief rest at the VIP section of the airport, the sultan was driven to Hotel Heebsoor where he was the guest of honor at a luncheon organized by the Mayor of Berbera, Mr Abdullah Muhammad Ali (Abdalle Sandheere). Sultan Abdirizaq Sultan Abdillahi gave a brief speech in which he said he was happy to be back in the country and thanked the officials and the people who welcomed him. He also added that he will soon offer advice on how to deal with the present the country’s current situation and exhorted the people to maintain their unity and stability. Later, the Sultan went to Hargeysa where he received a warm and rousing welcome.
