Hargeysa, Somaliland, October 24, 2009 (SL Times) – As part of its efforts to show the positive side of Somaliland society, the Hargeysa-based Arabic language newspaper al-Hatif al-Arabi paid a visit to the office of al-Falah, a non-governmental organization. To find out more about the activities of al-Falah, the newspaper had an interview with the director of the organization, Mr Saeed Abdi Gabobe. During the interview, Saeed Abdi Gabobe revealed that al-Falah was established in 1994 and that the main purpose of the organization is to help the poor and to contribute to the development of the country. He pointed out that al-Falah runs 9 schools, 5 centers, with 5000 students and more than three hundred teachers and administrators. In addition to its educational activities, al-Falah is also involved in job-creation through extending micro credits to poor families. Saeed Abdi Gabobe said that they are guided in their work by the laws of Islam as well as the laws of Somaliland.
