Traditional Leader Garaad Jama Garaad Ali Accused Of Murder

Hargeysa, Somaliland, November 7, 2009 (SL Times) – The Chairman of UCID party, Eng. Faysal Ali Warabe accused Sool traditional leader Garaad Jama Garaad Ali of being behind the murder of the Commander of the 12th infantry division of Somaliland army, Osman Yusuf Nur in Las Anod.
Eng. Faysal Ali Warabe said that Garaad Jama Garaad Ali had already announced through the BBC’s Somali service that he was going to use force to expel Somaliland’s administration from Sool and Buhoodle.
Indeed, Garaad Jama Garaad Ali and some expatriates who are mostly based in North America recently held a meeting in Nairobi, Kenya, in which they pledged to use violence to end Somaliland’s administration in Sool and Buhoodle.
There have been reports that, in their desperation, Garaad Jama Garaad Ali and his expatriates have linked up with al-Shabaab, and that al-Shabaab executed the operation in which Osman Yusuf Nur was murdered. The method used in killing Osman Yusuf Nur, roadside bombs, also points towards al-Shabaab.
