Ethiopian, Somaliland Foreign Ministers Hold Talks On Somaliland Elections

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, December 5, 2009 (SL Times) – Foreign Affairs State Minister Dr. Tekeda Alemu held talks with Foreign Minister of Somaliland, Abdillahi Mohammed Duale on elections due to be held in Somaliland.
According to a press release the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued after the meeting, Dr. Tekeda and Duale discussed on activities being made to make the election to be held in Somaliland peaceful.
Duale on the occasion said all parties operating in Somaliland have agreed to make the election free, fair and peaceful.
Dr. Tekeda, on his part said Ethiopia is working to bring lasting peace and stability in the region.
Dr. Tekeda added the efforts being made to ensure peace and stability in Somaliland need to be consolidated as it is crucial to expedite development in the region.
In a related development, members of the newly established Somaliland Electoral Commission (NEC) have also shared experiences with heads of the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE).
