Eng. Bashe Abdi Gabobe Defends Kulmiye

Hargeysa, Somaliland, December 19, 2009 (SL Times) – In an indication that the political campaign is heating up in Somaliland, Kulmiye party came under fire from the ruling UDUB party.
The Campaign Manager of UDUB, Osman Abdillahi Egal, accused Kulmiye of having links with al-Shabaab and claimed that Kulmiye’s Foreign Secretary is going around the world telling countries not to recognize Somaliland as long as President Dahir Rayale Kahin is in office.
Kulmiye’s Campaign Manager for the western regions, Eng. Bashe Abdi Gabobe, refuted those charges. He said he does not want to respond every time to the ridiculous charges made by Osman Abdillahi Egal whose job is to campaign for UDUB but instead of doing that spends his time insulting Kulmiye. He also pointed out that Kulmiye had already filed a legal case against Osman Abdillahi Egal for libel and defamation of Kulmiye party when he accused it of having links with al-Shabaab.
Bashe Abdi Gabobe also defended Kulmiye party’s foreign affairs secretary, Dr. Mohamed Omer, from claims by UDUB that he has been actively lobbying against Somaliland’s recognition. “Mohamed Omer works hard for Somaliland and was able to contact the highest levels of the US government, such as his meeting with Donald Payne, something that Somaliland’s government was unable to do,” added Bashe Abdi Gabobe.
