Sheikh Sharif Complains To Kenya

Nairobi, Kenya, December 26, 2009 (SL Times) – The President of the Transitional Federal Government, Sheikh Sharif sent a letter to the Kenyan government in which he complained that the former Prime Minister Ali Geddi is engaged in activities that undermine his government. Both Kenyan authorities and Somalia’s ambassador in Kenya, Mohamed Ali, confirmed receiving the letter.
Sheikh Sharif and Ali Geddi are from the Hawiya’s Abgal subclan, and Sheikh Sharif’s complaint is a sign that the Abgal sub-clan is alarmed at his failure to set up a viable administration and are looking for alternative arrangements to defend their clan interests. Ali Geddi is trying to exploit this unrest among the Abgal and for this reason has held a series of meetings with Abgal leaders such as Ali Mahdi.
Sheikh Sharif sees Ali Geedi’s hands behind the rising chorus of Parliamentarians asking for Sheikh Sharif’s government to resign. Salaad Ali Jeelle, another Abgal, has also been reported to be part of the campaign to topple Sheikh Sharif and his government.
