Farah Askar Assumes New Post As Governor Of Sool Region

Las Anod, Somaliland, December 26, 2009 (SL Times) – The newly appointed Governor of Sool Region, Mr. Farah Askar Hussein assumed his new duties in a ceremony at the regional headquarters.
As reported by Afnugaal.com, the ceremony was attended by the previous Governor of Sool region, Mr. Ali Mohamud Ahmed, elders, intellectuals, Sultans like Garaad Abdirashid Garaad Ismail Duale and government officials. The former Sool governor, Ali Mohamud Ahmed, was appointed minister of Posts and communications.
Garaad Abdirashid Garaad Ismail Duale spoke at the event. He welcomed the new governor and said there is peace and stability in Las Anod and throughout Sool. He also stressed that special attention must be given to the youth when it comes to employment, sports and improving their situation in other fields.
Ali Qamar, a well-known elder, advised those who are trying divide the people along tribal lines to cease and desist from such harmful activities because it will back fire on them.
The Commander of Police, Suleiman Gooni welcomed the new governor and expressed happiness that they have received from the government of Somaliland vehicles for the police which were seriously needed.
Mr. Doolaal Farah Awaale, the commander in charge of weaponry and ammunition warned that there are people who want to create confrontations between the military and the people but that will not happen.
Governor Farah Askar said he was honored to become the Governor of Sool and pledged to work with the community to achieve common goals. The former and the current governors deliberately took the long Las Anod road to make the point that Las Anod is a safe place.
