Another Puntland Parliament Member Assassinated

Bosasso, Somalia, January 9, 2010 (SL Times) – A member of Puntland’s parliament was assassinated this week in Bosasso. His name is Abdillahi Ali Kaarad. He is the second member of Puntland’s parliament to be assassinated within a month’s period.
Puntland’s authorities announced that they had apprehended two individuals whom they suspect of being involved in the murder. The two suspects were said to be members of Puntland’s security forces
The security situation in Puntland has been steadily deteriorating and the possible involvement of security forces in assassinations is a sign of the depth of the problem.
Recently, parliamentarian Ibrahim Ali Gaab was assassinated in Garowe, Judge Muhammad Abdi Aware was shot in Bosaso, the Minister of Information Seefta Bannaanka was murdered, and the Speaker of Parliament narrowly escaped being killed by a road side bomb.
