Chairman Sillanyo And Dr Muhammad Omar Update American Officials

Washington DC, January 16, 2010 (SL Times) – Kulmiye Chairman, Mr. Ahmed Mohammed Mohamud (Sillanyo) and Kulmiye’s Foreign Affairs Secretary, Dr Muhammad Omar were invited to address American officials this week. The event took place at the National Endowment for Democracy in Washington, D.C.
Among those who attended the presentation were Princeton N. Lyman (former Assistant Secretary of State for International Organization Affairs and current member of the Council on Foreign Relations), David Shinn (former Ambassador to Ethiopia), Mark Billera (Director of Africa programs for USAID), Dave Peterson (Director of NED Africa program), Matthew Walsh (US Department), journalists, international lawyers, democracy organizations representatives and other distinguished guests.
After a brief introduction by Dave Peterson, Mr. Ahmed Sillanyo spoke about the history of Somaliland and the different stages that the country has passed through, all the way to the current political situation and his party's program for the country. Mr. Sillanyo also explained his party’s economic, political and security policies.
Dr Muhammad Omar addressed his party’s foreign policy and an analysis of the current regional and international situation. He also underlined the efforts his party will make to achieve the country’s objectives, including expanding the country’s international links and achieving international recognition.
