Graduation At Nugaal University

Las Anod, Somaliland, January 30, 2010 (SL Times) – Twenty one students graduated from Nugaal University this week. This is the first batch of students to graduate from Nugaal University, and they studied fields such as business administration and accounting. The graduation ceremony took place at Hamdi hotel in Las Anod and was attended by community elders, intellectuals, Somaliland government officials and many ordinary citizens.
According to Afnugaal.com, the event was opened with a religious sermon by Sheikh Mohamud Haliike who spoke about the importance of doing good deeds for the community. The Chairman of the University Committee, Mr.. Abdirashid Jama Bihi, recounted the difficulties they encountered on their way to establishing a functioning university and highlighted their plan to expand the number of departments of the university.
The Director of Education in Sool region, Kayse Awil Ladane spoke about the increasing number of students in various schools in Sool region which have reached 40,000 but he also bemoaned the shortage in the number of schools in the region.
Among those who also addressed the audience were Abdirizaq Lafoole (the president of Nugaal University), Anbashe Aw Dahir H. Hassan (the Mayor of Las Anod), Abdirahman Jama Duale (the president of Buro University), Ali Muhammad Salah (Telesom official), Col. Ahmed Ato, and Dakir Muhammad Warsame (the head of the Red Cross).
