Las Anod, Somaliland, February 06, 2010 (SL Times) – An explosion took place in Las Anod Wednesday night, near al-Hamdi hotel. In an interview with the Voice of America’s Somali Service (Feb.4, 2010), Somaliland Minister of Interior Abdillahi Ismail Ali (Irro) said that the explosion was an attempted suicide bombing that failed and resulted only in the death of the suicide attacker.
The minister also revealed that they found the body of the suicide bomber which was torn to many pieces. He also added that they retrieved items of evidence including documents, a cell phone, and a remote control.
Several Somaliland ministers and high officials were staying at Hamdi hotel when the explosion took place. Las Anod had seen several bombings lately.
