Veterinarians Sent To Eastern Somaliland

Hargeysa, Somaliland, February 20, 2010 (SL Times) – Nine groups of veterinary doctors have left Hargeysa for eastern Togdheer, Sool and Sanag regions. The veterinary doctors are going to those regions to treat animals whose health were negatively affected by the recent drought.
A departure ceremony was held for the veterinarians at the Hargeysa and Da’ar Budhuq veterinary center. The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Livestock, Dr idris Ibrahim Abdi, the Director of the Ministry of Livestock, Dr Giire and officials from the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
The veterinarians are going to spend a month checking the health of livestock and treating them. Three groups of veterinarians are assigned to each region. The project was financed by FAO and is being carried out by the ministry of livestock.
