Las Anod, Somaliland, February 20, 2010 (SL Times) – Somaliland Minister of Justice Asowe Hassan, the Minister of Education, Hassan H. Mohamud Warsame, and the Minister of State of Education, Mohamud Garaad Muhammad (Qaw-dhegayste) visited Las Anod Schools in order to observe first hand the status of education in the city. According to Afnugaal.com, the ministers visited Muse Yusuf high school, Nugaal high school and Abyan elementary school.
The principal of Nugaal high school, Mr. Abdinasir Idle Muhammad briefed the ministers on the situation of education in the region and stressed to them that the quality of the schools needs to be developed and the number of the schools need to be increased. The ministers promised to do something about those needs. But Afnugaal.com points out that this is not the first delegation that visits Sool region and makes a lot of promises, including the President of Somaliland Dahir Rayale Kahin who had promised to bring a rig to Las Anod that would make drinkable water more available but so far has not fulfilled his promise.
