Las Anod, Somaliland, March 6, 2010 (SL Times) – The Somaliland government’s delegation that is touring Sool region held a conference in Las Anod with officials from throughout Sool region in which they evaluated what was accomplished so far. During the conference the Minister of Defense, Mr Suleiman Warsame Guleed revealed that the government is determined to improve the level of development of Sool region and bring to the same level as other regions in Somaliland. He also pointed out that although the security situation has improved, it does not mean their job is over.
The Minister of Communications and Post Services, Mr Ali Mohamud Ahmed, shared with the conferees some of the knowledge he gained from his experience as the previous head of the region, and appealed to the Sultans meeting in Buro Wadal to stop agitating for a war that will destroy their people and instead do something positive for their constituents. Likewise, he urged the Sool diaspora to help their people rather than push them to war and conflict.
The delegation also toured a new police station whose construction is almost complete, and were briefed by Sool region’s Police Commander, Mr Muhammad Abdillahi Gooni.
