Sheikh Sharif's "Police" Shoot Their Spokesman

Mogadishu, Somalia, April 3, 2010 (SL Times) – A gun fight erupted between Sheikh Sharif's militia or "police" that have been busy demolishing the shacks of about 500 destitute families in Avizione neighborhood of Mogadishu.
The fighting resulted in the wounding of their spokesman Abdillahi Hassan Barise who was flown to a hospital in Nairobi, Kenya.
Although the cause of the conflict is not clear, Sheikh Sharif's militias are an ill-disciplined bunch who habitually extort money from civilians and often engage in gun fights among each other.
