Diplomats Honor Somaliland

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, April 24, 2010 (SL Times) – According to a press release by Somaliland's Mission in Ethiopia, A diplomatic gathering in honor of Somaliland took place at the Romanian embassy in Addis Ababa on Thursday. Somaliland Foreign Minister Mr Abdillahi Mohamed Duale and ambassadors of thirty five countries participated in the gathering. Represented in the gathering were the EU, US, Canada , Norway, Japan, China, Mexico, Brazil, Korea, Australia.
Speaking to the gathering, the Romanian Ambassador Mr. Gabriel Branzaru said, "The purpose of the gathering was to discuss in general the situation in the region, and Somaliland in particular." Then the ambassador asked Somaliland's foreign minister to address the assembled diplomats.
Somaliland Foreign Minister spoke about the vital role Somaliland plays in the region and the progress it has made in security, democracy and diplomacy. He also appealed to the countries whose ambassadors were present to recognize Somaliland diplomatically and to assist it in improving its economy and in strengthening its security.
The ambassadors asked Somaliland foreign minister many questions about Somaliland and the minister answered all their inquiries. The foreign minister also gave the ambassadors a copy of his four-page speech and a map of Somaliland. To cap it all the foreign minister invited the ambassadors to come and visit Somaliland to which some of them enthusiastically agreed.
Accompanying the foreign minister to this event was the head of Somaliland’s mission in Ethiopia, Mr Mohamed Sheikh Hassan and the Deputy Head of the mission, Mr Ayanle salad Deria. The event took two and half hours.
