Somaliland-French Relations Show Progress

Paris, France, May 8, 2010 (SL Times) – Somaliland President Dahir Rayale Kahin met with France’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bernard Kouchner. The meeting took place at the French foreign ministry (Quai d’orsay).
Before that, Somaliland President Dahir Rayale met with Andre Parant, President Sarkozy’s advisor for African affairs and other French officials.
The visit is the last leg of Somaliland delegation’s three-country tour that started with Djibouti, then Ethiopia and now France.
It is also the culmination of energetic efforts on the part of Somaliland’s government to upgrade relations with France. These efforts included a recent meeting between Somaliland Foreign Minister Abdillahi Duale and France’s ambassador to Ethiopia, and the recent visit to Somaliland by a French delegation.
