Election Campaigns Start In Somaliland

Hargeysa, Somaliland, June 5, 2010 (SL Times) – Somaliland’s election campaign started this week after the Election Commission set the date of June 3, 2010, for the beginning of campaigning of political parties for the office of presidency. Political campaigning will go on for three weeks and will end on June 23rd.
The announcement of the campaigning schedule of the three political parties was made by the spokesman of the Election Commission Mr Muhammad Ahmed Hirsi (Geelle). UDUB party was the party that inaugurated the campaigning season on Thursday with a rally at Freedom Park and throughout the country. It was followed by KULMIYE on Friday, and UCID on Saturday. Each party will end up getting a total of seven days of campaigning.
