Minister Of Education Welcomed By The Educational Community

Hargeysa, Somaliland, August 7, 2010 (SL Times) – The appointment of Zamzam Abdi Adan as the new minister of education has elicited a positive reaction from many people in the educational community.

One of these people who welcomed the selection of Zamzam Abdi Adan for the post of minister of education, is the principal of Ahmed Guray School , Mr Abdirahman Ahmed Hussein.

Asked by Haatuf Newspaper how he sees the appointment of the new minister of education, the Principal of Ahmed Guray School Abdirahman Ahmed Hussein replied, “I consider Zamzam Abdi Adan as someone who is fit to lead the ministry of education since she is not unfamiliar with educational issues and used to be a teacher herself.”

Speaking about the matters to which the new minister should give priority, Mr Abdirahman Ahmed Hussein said, “Some of the issues that I would like to see the minister tackle are to increase the salaries of the teachers, to give to teachers who are participating in seminars the same amount of daily allowance received by the staff of other ministries, to re-institute competition among schools, and to establish libraries for students.”
