President Sillanyo Goes On His First Visit To China

Hargeysa, Somaliland, August 6, 2011 (SL Times) – Somaliland president Ahmed Mohamed Sillanyo departs today on a mission to the People’s Republic Of China with the aim of securing Chinese investments in projects in Somaliland.
According to one of Somaliland officials, the president will meet with figures in the Chinese government as well as leaders of major companies to discuss trade and cooperation in the sectors of energy and infrastructure development.
The trip, Sillanyo’s first to China since becoming Somaliland’s president last year, will include a stop in Addis Ababa where he is expected to discuss with Ethiopian officials the deepening of bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries.
An aid to the president said that during this visit Mr. Sillanyo also seek Chinese technical assistance and expertise particularly in the areas of water and agriculture development and road construction as well.
