Somaliland Security Arrest Suspected Terrorists In Las Anod

Las Anod, Somaliland, August 6, 2011 (SL Times) – Somaliland’s police put on public display bombs, wires, nails, pistols and other weapons that they said were in the possession of a man and a woman who were arrested a day earlier. The weapons cache was shown to the public at Hamdi hotel which is located in the eastern part of Las Anod, but the arrests were made in the western part of the city.
Las Anod has suffered from a series of terrorist assassinations that targeted government officials. The chief of Somaliland Police, Muhammad Saqadhi Dubad told Haatuf Newspaper while he was in Las Anod that the security situation is getting better and they had provided the city with additional security. The Minister of Information, Ahmed Abdi Habsade said they had arrested many of the people who were part of the network behind the assassinations in Las Anod, and the government is still on the heels of those who fled.
