Vice President Promises To Hit Terrorists Hard

Hargeysa, Somaliland, November 5, 2011 (SL Times) – Somaliland Vice President Abdirahman Abdillahi Ismail (Zayla’i) said this week that his government will crack down hard on terrorists and enemies of Somaliland, and will work closely with neighboring countries on security issues. He also added that the security forces and the people are united on this matter.
Vice President Abdirahman Abdillahi Ismail (Zayla’i) sent condolences to the families of those who were killed in the Oct.29, 2008 triple suicide bombings that took place at the presidential palace, the Ethiopian embassy and the UNDP office. The vice president made these pronouncements on the occasion of the third anniversary of the triple suicide bombings that took place in Hargeysa which were carried out by al-Shabaab. He further stressed that the threat of terrorism still exists in Somaliland and encouraged citizens to be vigilant and to work with the security forces to thwart the plans of terrorists.
Oct.29, 2008, the day of al-Shabaab’s triple suicide bombings that took lives of many innocent people is remembered as a very dark day in the history of Somaliland, and is commemorated every year.
