The whistleblowing report shines a light on chaotic and secretive financial dealings and says the Somali government did not explain how the $58 million it recorded receiving last year was actually spent.

The future of Africans depends on how they are consolidated and devoted to realize the renaissance of the continent, which requires political commitment and integrated efforts. In this regard, the media has its own irreplaceable role. It needs to work hard to build the image of the continent that has long been distorted by the well experienced international media for different reasons.

WikiLeaks Email: Bin Laden’s Corpse Not Dumped At Sea

By Jason Ditz, March 04, 2012

In May of last year, the US killing of Osama bin Laden was immediately followed by debate over the disposal of his corpse. The Obama Administration insisted bin Laden was put in a bag and hurled into the sea, which they insisted was “in keeping with Islamic practices,” while some were calling for his body to be kept around so it could be overtly desecrated.

Fake Nationalists Exposed

The Taleeh meeting started as a gathering in which the Dhulbahante clan was going to discuss its affairs very much like any other clan, and that was why Somaliland’s government did not interfere with it and allowed some of the delegates to pass through its airports and other entry points. But as is widely known, the meeting was hijacked by individuals from the diaspora who politicized it and declared a state called Khatumo. This was viewed by Somalilanders as a negative development. As we already wrote before, this was also a negative development for the Dhulbahante clan, because all it did was further divide an already divided clan. But it also had one ironic result: it discredited many of the individuals who used to claim that they opposed Somaliland’s independence (or secession as they called it) because they were nationalists who want to keep Somalis together.

Somaliland: Post The Somalia London Conference And Beyond

By Mokhtar Abshir

I.                        Pre-Conference Unease:

Much gloom has been predicted about Somaliland’s participation in the Somalia conference on the 23/02/2012. It was opposed by many who were genuinely concerned about the political ramification of participating in the messy affairs of Somalia. Few might have also been forgiven to fear for the safety of their president knowing that a favourite pastime of our brethrens in Somalia is to batter each other into political submission with chairs, walking aides and any hard objects they can lay their hand on.

David Cameron’s Welcome Colonial Arrogance

By Bashir Goth

It was arrogance, sheer arrogance of colonial times; another British PM in the 21st century dictating his terms to a beleaguered African nation.

David Cameron buoyed by his victory in Libya wanted an international endorsement to air bomb Somalia under the pretext of fighting Al Shabaab and Piracy but in real truth he wanted to address domestic concerns: read Olympics, economic hardships, British tourism in Kenya, future oil & mineral prospects and home security, genuine interests indeed against genuine threats coming from a poor Horn of African nation. It was unacceptable, genuinely unacceptable.

End Of The Road For General Samater

By Mahdi Ahmed Abdi (Gabose)

For most Somalis general Samatar’s case brings raw emotions to the surface that go to the root cause of why the Somali state came apart. The reaction to his trial and the Supreme Court verdict denying him immunity for his actions while in charge of the formidable Somali army and their role in the genocide in Somaliland and destruction of towns is quite telling.

He is either a saint or a Satan incarnated depending on where one stands (in the line of fire or behind the guns). It is important to note that those defending Samater most vociferously are not denying the bombings of Hargeysa, or the deaths of tens of thousands of people, the mass rapes, summary executions and torture chambers visited on ordinary people throughout Somaliland.

Calling A Spade A Spade

Many businesses are making workers redundant in response to the global financial crisis. The argument has been that because of poor sales brought about by weak consumer spending and confidence, the high cost of employing and retaining staff is no longer financially justifiable. While this argument is credible given the difficult trading conditions internationally, most ethnic lead businesses in the UK have always been poor at retaining qualified staff.
