SOMTEL Reduces Phone Rates To Lowest Level

Hargeysa, Somaliland, April 28, 2012 (SL Times) – The telecommunications company SOMTEL has reduced its international phone calls rates to the lowest level ever. The company took this decision when the management of the company realized that the situation of the community required such a step.
The head of sales and marketing, Abdinasir Haji Suleiman Abdi, spoke to the press at the company's headquarters in Hargeysa. In his press conference, Mr Abdinasir Haji Suleiman Abdi was accompanied by the Deputy Manager of Sales and Marketing, Ahmed Nuh Saeed, the head of community relations, Abdinasir Awad Muuse, local as well as foreign engineers. Mr Abdinasir Haji Suleiman Abdi said, "on behalf of SOMTEL, I announce to you that today (April 21, 2012) we have made the largest reduction in prices of phone calls, especially international calls. No other company has made similar reductions in prices."
The head of sales and marketing explained that international phone calls used to cost a dollar for every 12 minutes during the hours 6 am to 6 pm, it is now one dollar for every 20 minutes any time, day or night, for both mobile and line phones for the following countries: Australia, Spain, Italy, France,, Norway, UK, Finland, Portugal, Ireland, Belgium, Turkey, Russia, South Africa, Kenya, Egypt, Pakistan, Germany, New eland, Denmark, Netherland and Sweden.
Similarly, the cost of phone calls was reduced to one dollar for every 20 minutes for both mobile and line calls to the following countries: USA, China, Malaysia and Thailand.
SOMTEL is part of Dahabshil Company. It was formed in March 2010 and during its two year existence it has made excellent progress and brought to the country technologies and services that were very much appreciated by Somali-speaking public. Among these services and technologies are SMS and MMS (for messages), GPRS/EDGE modem for the program ila-soo-hadal(VoIP) that is attached to hand phones, sound and sight 3G video call which SOMTEL was the first to introduce to the area, especially Somaliland.
SOMTEL also provides high quality internet service at the level of those found in Europe and the United States. SOMTEL is the first company to bring to the country the EDGE Modem which allows for getting wireless internet which has made it indispensable for internet users. As an example of the advances that SOMTEL has introduced, we can look at the fact that it has made it possible to broadcasts TV programs which can be seen live around the world.
