NDB President Protests Government Mistreatment

Hargeysa, Somaliland, May 5, 2012 (SL Times) – The president of the NDB political group, Fawziya Yusuf Haji Adan, accused the government security forces of beating and jailing members of her party along with other members of the political opposition.
Government security forces did this, she said, at a time when the political groups were getting ready to demonstrate against what they considered as being unfairly disqualified from taking part in the coming election. Fawziya Yusuf Haji Adan described the decision to exclude the NDB and some other political groups from competing in the coming election as a setback for women's struggle.
She said they had paid $27000 as a deposit which was one of the conditions to participate in the political process and were waiting for six months and suddenly they were told they did not make it.
