Xagla-Toosiye Calls For Peace; Buhodle Elders Tell Khatumo To Leave

Buhodle, Somaliland, July 28, 2012 (SL Times) – The leader of the SSC militia Suleiman Ise Ahmed (Xagla-toosiye) returned to Buhodle from abroad.
In a speech right after he arrived he announced that he had reached a peace agreement with Somaliland. He said the people of Buhodle are tired of war, and the people of Somaliland are tired of war, therefore it is in the interest of both peoples to have peace. He pledged to work on bringing peace, progress and cooperation to the area.
That news apparently did not sit well with the group called Khatumo, so in order to stir up strife they attacked Somaliland forces and fired at Xagla Toosiey himself, which in turn prompted Buhodle elders to tell Khatumo group to leave Budhodle within 24 hours otherwise they would use force to eject them from Buhodle.
According to Haatuf Newspaper, the elders who issued the ultimatum to Khatumo are mainly from Xagla Toosiye's lineage, the Reer Hagar who are the majority of the people in Buhodle.
The latest news from the area says both Xagla Toosiey’s supporters and Khatumo militias are getting ready for more clashes.
