Awdal Diaspora Women Build Dila Hospital

Dila, Somaliland, July 28, 2012 (SL Times) – The Deputy Minister of Health, Nim’o Osman Qawdhan, laid the foundation stone fo Dila Hospital. The hospital is in the process of being built by Awdal diaspora women. In addition to the deputy health minister, the ceremony to mark the occasion was attended by the Minister of Labor and Community Affairs, Mohamud Ahmed Barre, officials from Awdal region, diaspora representatives and other members of the community.
In her speech at the ceremony, The Deputy Minister of Health, Nim’o Osman Qawdhan, said the government is not in a position to build a hospital at the moment, but if the community builds it, the government will provide staff, medicine and the running of the hospital. She also thanked the Awdal women’s diaspora for their much-needed contribution to the health of the people of Dila.
Dila has a health center run by Somaliland Red Crescent, but it does not have a hospital. This will be the first time Dila acquires a hospital.
