Hargeysa, Somaliland, August 4, 2012 (SL Times) – A mentally ill Somaliland citizen today has a home thanks to Somaliland President Ahmed Sillanyo and parliamentarian Ahmed Muhammad Mohamud Diriye (Nac-Nac). A news item written by Omar Muhammad Farah and published in Haatuf Newspaper gave the name of the mentally ill man as Ahmed Aw Hasan Nur.
According to Saado Aw Hasan Aw Nur, a relative of Ahmed Aw Hasan Nur , he had been suffering from mental disturbances for the last 50 years, and the recent heavy rains had damaged their dwelling, but fortunately they were visited by parliamentarian Ahmed Muhammad Mohamud Diriye (Nac-Nac) who took their cases to the presidency, and the president approved emergency assistance for them.
The Secretary of Hargeysa region, Hamze Iise, disclosed that the home cost $2500, and that Somaliland government paid $1500 and parliamentarian Mohamud Diriye (Nac-Nac) contributed $1000.
Parliamentarian Ahmed Muhammad Mohamud Diriye (Nac-Nac) appealed to the public to extend much needed assistance to this family.
The assistance to Ahmed Aw Hasan Nur was part of a government package which extended help to 15 families whose homes were destroyed in last week’s rains.
